Via the telephone:

When answering calls from telemarketers or from unknown callers be careful not to give too much of your personal information over the phone.  You should find out exactly who is on the other line before you give any information to that person.  Sometimes telemarketers are trained to ask questions in such away as not to appear to be asking for your information, but in fact that is exactly what they are doing.  If it is not a call that you placed yourself, then be reluctant about verifying information over the phone as well.
Social Networking Sites:

We all love to keep in touch with our friends and family, specifically on Facebook and Twitter, but we need  to be careful not divulge any
This information could also allow stalkers or predators to have access to your every move.  Although we want to keep in touch with our friends and  family,  no one should have that kind of access to you.
Texting / Emailing:

We must understand that all of our conversations are not always private ones.  Your texts can easily be accessed by your provider and others that have the ability to hack into your phone.  Emails can also be  accessed by  your employer, the network provider, a hacker and even some government agencies.  When  making a purchases or paying bills on line, be sure to use secure sites; and when possible choose the one time payment option  rather than  a recurring one to keep the site from retaining your information after your transaction. Remember texts and emails can be recalled, so be very careful of the information that you  display  in your texts and emails.

With all the technology available to us now, one would think that it would be much harder for people to access our personal information.;  but in fact, technology made it easier.  Companies now store their information in databases and not paper files.  This makes it easier for hackers and dishonest employees to have access to the personal information stored in those databases.  Don’t make it easy for dishonest people to get their hands on your information.  Remember to be mindful of the information given over the telephone,  posted on social websites and even the messages sent via text and email.
It Takes Courage
Author Unknown

It takes courage
To refrain from gossip
When others delight in it,
To stand up for the absent person
Who is being abused.

It takes courage
To live honestly
Within your means,
And not dishonestly
On the means of others.

It takes courage
To be a real man or a true woman
To hold fast to your ideals
When it causes you
To be looked upon
As strange and peculiar.

It takes courage
To be talked about,
And remain silent,
When a word would justify you
In the eyes of others,
But which you dare not speak
Because it would injure another.

It takes courage
To refuse to do something
That is wrong
Although everyone else
May be doing it
With attitudes as carefree
As a summer song.

It takes courage
To live according
To your own convictions,
To deny yourself
What you cannot afford.
To love your neighbor
As yourself !

Are you giving too much information?
information that is not already public knowledge about yourself.  You should never post personal information on social websites that may allow readers to access personal bank accounts or be able to open credit accounts in your name.  Listing such
information as social security numbers, complete addresses and all of your contact information could put you at risk of identity theft.
